Falls City council asked to consider germicidal UV lighting in arsenal

FALLS CITY – The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21.
The agenda includes wastewater treatment plant pumps, Prichard Auditorium liquor licenses, and sale of property at 221 W. 14th and 1613 Abbott streets.
Mark and Rose Galaska have asked to speak with the council regarding the use of ultraviolet lighting to combat coronavirus diseases.
The Falls City couple says germicidal far-ultraviolet light 222 nm can be used with social distancing and masks to prevent spread of disease.
At the last meeting, the council held a 70-minute executive session regarding a CWA Union grievance.
It was followed by an 36-minute executive session regarding possible legal action by IBEW Union.
The council voted 7-0 to approve grievances by the CWA Union and the IBEW Union.
A memorandum of understanding is proposed between the city and The Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise.
EDGE is tasked with creating a positive image of Falls City and marketing the community as a preferred business location. The city provides a member to the EDGE board and pays $120,000 a year.
