The Sidney Iowa Rodeo is among three in the United States sponsored by an American Legion post

SIDNEY, IA - The Williams-Jobe-Gibson American Legion will host the 102nd Sidney Iowa Rodeo July 29 to Aug. 2.

Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association events include team roping, saddlebronc riding and steer wrestling, as well as bull riding and bareback riding.

Tie-down roping features a calf and a cowboy on horseback. The rider must throw a rope in a loop around the calf, signal the horse to stop, step off the horse and run to the calf.

Acts include world champion gun spinner Rider Kiesner trick rider Stephanie Kiesner and rodeo clown Dusty Myers. The Two-County Dusters have been with the rodeo since 1997.

Lyle and Jann Tackett highlighted events on  the B103 morning show, including the parade.

Tackett: “On Saturday we kind of have a big deal going on. They call it the rodeo days. It starts at 8 o'clock in the morning with a pancake feed. Then there's bounce houses for the kids, there's music, there's vendors all around the square and then at 4:30 the parade starts. So  you can come eat pancakes, hang around the square and come to the rodeo at night time."

Ranch bronc riding is scheduled Friday and Saturday nights.
