NEBRASKA CITY - Nebraska City police are reminding motorists to obey speed limits during the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s speeding prevention campaign through July.

The traffic safety administration says speeding is a factor in 29 percent of all crashes nationally and led to over 11,000 fatalities in 2023.

A police press release says there were 569 people injured or killed in Nebraska in 2023 due to speeding-related crashes. Police say the Stop Speeding, Before It Stops You campaign recognizes speeding as a major issue in traffic crashes.
