Prison ordered for meth conspiracy

FALLS CITY – A district judge sentenced a Missouri man to one to five years in state prison Tuesday saying he brought methamphetamine into Nebraska and sold it to multiple people who had drug problems.
Bryant Corbin, 33, of Tarkio was arrested during the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office investigation of illegal drugs that included eight property searches at the Eastview Apartments. Through a series of jailhouse interviews, investigators linked the sale of meth over six months to Corbin. He was described as “another supplier” by an Eastview Apartment resident, who told investigators about traveling to Horton, Kan., and Fairfax.
Defense Attorney Dylan Handley said Corbin admits to having a problem with methamphetamine “that got out of hand.”
Judge Julie Smith said she sentenced another man to prison who told authorities Corbin was his supplier.
Smith: “This is too serious to warrant probation. You were bringing drugs in from another state and selling to multiple people here. It’s not the type of thing a person can do and expect probation. I think your dealing was more of a career type.”
With the one to five-year sentence, Corbin will be eligible for release in 2 ½ years.
In other court action, Hugh Berry, 58, of Omaha was sentenced to 100 days in jail and fined $500 for possession on July 1. He was given credit for 59 days already served.
Judge Smith said charge was non-violent and would not have overcome the presumption of probation directed by state law, except for his criminal record and for not completing a pre-sentence investigation.
Chance Dunback, 31, entered a plea to attempted delivery of methamphetamine in December of 2024.
Richardson County Attorney Samantha Scheitel said sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at Vision Inn in Falls City where meth was found in a hotel room. The room occupant told investigators that Dunback had brought the meth to the location.
The judge set sentencing for June 3 and gave Dunback a personal recognizance bond.
