NEBRASKA CITY - Travis Hutchins, 38, of Nebraska City is charged in Otoe County with violating a protection order, assault, use of a firearm to commit a felony and terroristic threats on Feb. 10.
An arrest warrant was issued Feb. 11 based on a Nebraska City police affidavit that says police were unable to locate Hutchins.
A Nebraska City woman told investigators that Hutchins followed her from Walmart where she had been shopping and showed up while she was unloading groceries at her Fourth Avenue residence.
The affidavit says Hutchins followed the woman into the house despite a December protection order. Officers say she was punched in the head and face, while Hutchins demanded that others put their phones down. Witnesses say Hutchins fired a shot into the floor and pointed the gun at witnesses who were sitting on a nearby couch. A witness said Hutchins struck her with the malfunctioning gun, but left when she kicked him in the mid-section.
The affidavit says officers located a 9 mm Luger shell casing in the living room, as well as a hole in the carpet and damage to the floor. A 9 mm Luger round was found in the room below.
