Led by Lance Waddles' 25 points, the Omaha Mavericks defeated the Lamar Cardinals 85-82 in overtime on Saturday. The Mavericks improved to 7-7 with the victory and the Cardinals fell to 5-6.

The Sidney Lady Raiders bounced back from a narrow loss to Class A Cheyenne East on Thursday with a dominant defensive performance Friday night, holding Torrington to just seven second-half points in a 47-24 road win.

Brent Burns and Martin Necas scored early and the Colorado Avalanche held on to beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 for their fourth straight win.

Garden County earned a home sweep Tuesday night as both the girls and boys teams secured wins over Bayard Friday night in Oshkosh.

The Western Nebraska Community College men’s basketball team wrapped up the first semester falling to Utah State Eastern at the Snow College Holiday Invitational on Saturday 87-72.

Creighton’s season ends in the NCAA Regional Final with a straight-set loss to top-seeded Kentucky. The Bluejays finish 28-6 in Brian Rosen’s first season as head coach, with a 23-match win streak snapped in the loss.

Mitchell dominated the Gordon-Rushville Wrestling Invite on Saturday, winning the team title with 195.5 points and multiple individual champions across the lineup.

The Sidney Lady Raiders improved to 3-0 Tuesday night while Chase County earned its first win of the season, edging Sidney

Bridgeport won the team title at Friday’s Gordon-Rushville Girls Wrestling Tournament, edging Chadron in a tight race featuring 12 teams.

In their first game back in nearly two weeks off, the Western Nebraska Community College men’s basketball team competed with No. 2 Snow College. In the end, Snow registered the 127-91 win in the Snow College Holiday Invitational.

The Stanley Cup was in the building in honor of the 1995-96 Colorado Avalanche squad.

The Trojans topped the Braves 59-46

The Bravettes kept the Trojans scoreless for an entire half in their 67-6 win.

Scottsbluff wrestling opened the season with a 47-28 dual win over Mitchell.

Black Hills State dominated the first two quarters and went on cruise control the rest of the way, handing Chadron State women's basketball an 83-34 loss in CSC's season-opening RMAC game on Thursday night in Spearfish. 

The Western Nebraska Community College women’s basketball team got 18 points from Veralyn Aviles and the Cougars captured their fourth straight win with a 67-52 win over Dawson Community College Thursday.

The Lady Orange topped the Pioneers 45-35, while the Orangemen rolled to a 71-42 victory. 

Mathew Barzal had a goal and two assists, and the New York Islanders defeated the NHL-leading Colorado Avalanche 6-3.
