Red Flag Warning issued for Nebraska Panhandle, northeast Colorado and southeast Wyoming

SIDNEY - A Red Flag Warning is in effect Sunday for the Nebraska Panhandle, northeast Colorado, and southeast Wyoming as strong winds and low humidity create dangerous fire conditions. The National Weather Service issued the warning from noon to 7 p.m. MDT, replacing an earlier Fire Weather Watch.
Forecasters expect west winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. Humidity levels could drop as low as 10 to 15 percent, increasing the risk of rapid fire spread. Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and any activity that could ignite a wildfire.
Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 61 degrees Sunday before climbing to 72 on Monday. A major shift in the weather pattern will arrive Tuesday, bringing a chance for snow and colder temperatures. Winds will continue to be strong, with gusts up to 45 mph possible as a cold front moves through the region. Snow is expected to develop by midday Tuesday, with accumulating snowfall and blustery conditions continuing into Tuesday night.
Officials urge residents to remain cautious until fire weather conditions improve.
