LINCOLN - In an election recap press release, the Nebraska Republican Party says low voter turnout compared to previous presidential cycles is a concern.

A press release says voter turnout of 333,000 is down from 2020, when 497,000 voted. The release asks if distrust in elections and election integrity is a factor.

The press release says the Republican Party has “an obligation” to move forward with its legislative plan that includes hand counting of ballots.

Voter turnout was highest in Garden County with 61 percent. Cherry County had 60 percent.

It was lowest in Dakota County with 11 percent; Scottsbluff with 13 percent and Thurston County with 16 percent.
