Donna Marie Damme, age 73, passed away on May 7th at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, where she lived for 8 months.

She was born on July 10, 1950 to Ralph and Ruby (Ebert) Grundman. She was baptized on November 5, 1950 at Zion Church in Talmage and confirmed on March 22, 1964 at St. John’s (McWilliams) United Church of Christ near Talmage. Donna was a member of the last graduating class from Talmage High School in 1968. She earned an Executive Secretarial degree from Lincoln School of Commerce, Lincoln, NE in 1969. Later in 2002, she earned a Management degree at Peru State College, Peru, NE.

On September 19, 1970, she was united in marriage to Edward J. Damme at St. John’s (McWilliams) United Church of Christ. Donna and Edward made their home on Edward’s family farm north of Talmage, Nebraska and from this union, they were blessed with four children- Carol, Dean, Marcia, and Kevin.

In addition to her role as a farmwife and mother, she worked outside the home in various Administrative Assistant positions. She was a member of the St. John’s (McWilliams) Church where she served as a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for many years. She was a member of numerous organizations, including the Talmage High School Alumni, 4-H and she was a Boys and Girls Scout Leader. She loved cooking and was an avid cookbook collector. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her husband, Edward. Children and Spouses: Carol and Mike Greenwald of Lincoln, Dean and Stacy Damme of Beatrice, Marcia and Greg Harring of Syracuse and Kevin and Diana Damme of Gretna; Seven Grandchildren: Derek (fiancé Mary) Greenwald and Mikayla Greenwald, Dillon Damme and Logan Damme, Justin Gress, Colton Damme and Colby Damme. Sisters and brothers-in-laws: Elaine (Jerry) Moore, Karen (Lester) Roeber; Sister: Dianne Bohlken; Brothers and sisters-in-laws: Rick (Chris) Grundman and Ron (MaryBeth) Grundman, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law: James (Jim Bob) Bohlken. Brother and sister-in-law: Harvey and Valeria Damme.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 13, 2024 at St. John’s (McWilliams) Church, rural Talmage, NE. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery (McWilliams).

The family will greet friends from 5-7 pm on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, NE.
