FALLS CITY – Falls City firefighters responded to a house fire at 807 Ben Boulevard around 2 a.m. Sunday.

The fire was dispatched with information that all occupants of the home owned by Lukas and Megan Goff were evacuating. Firefighters arrived to see flames shooting up 50 feet from the south end of the home, where there was an attached garage.

Firefighters cut and pulled down a metal garage door to provide access and eventually pulled down the west wall as a safety measure as the trusses had been burned away and the metal ceiling had dropped.

No injuries were reported.

The fire department reports significant fire, smoke and water damage.

Here is the fire department's press release:

The Falls City Fire Dept. , along with  Falls City Rural Fire , Falls City Ambulance, Falls City Police, and Falls City Utilities  responded to report of a structure fire  Sunday morning 4/21 at around 2:00 a.m.  To 807 Ben Blvd, where a home owned by Lukas & Megan Goff family resides.

The call came in with notification to first responders that every one was in the process of getting outside . Upon the first Engine arrival , flames could be seen shooting up 50'  from the  South end of the home where an attached garage was.

(20) firemen responded and some  donned their SCBA'S  making  their first attack  at the East main entry and worked into kitchen/  laundry area to get to the garage.

No vehicles were inside the  garage, but the metal garage door was cut and pulled down to help access, and later  the West wall was pulled down too, as a safety issue since all the  trusses had burned away and the metal ceiling had dropped.

A State Fire Marshal was called  and he  listed it as "Undetermined" . It appears to have started in the south half of the  garage with another area of interest. No injuries were reported and firemen remain on the scene  until about 8:00 a.m. with a rekindle and returned  at 9:45 a.m. where paper products stored had ignited and they remained on scene for another hour.

With a large valuation listed on the home it looks to be a large  dollar loss mostly due to heavy water, smoke,  and fire damage  with those amounts  to be determined by the insurance company once they complete their investigation.
