DOUGLAS COUNTY, Neb. (WOWT) - Douglas County Sheriff’s Office members have arrested a man after one person died and three others were hurt in a crash Sunday.

DCSO tells 6 News members of the Road Patrol Division were called to the area of 168th Street and Pawnee Road just before 1 a.m.

Initial investigation found a pickup was northbound on 168th when it failed to stop and entered Pawnee Road. A Subaru, which had the right-of-way, was westbound on Pawnee/Highway 36 when it collided with the pickup.

Four people were taken to Nebraska Medicine with serious injuries. One of them was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Their identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

DCSO says the driver of the pickup showed signs of impairment, and deputies began a DUI investigation. The driver was subjected to a breathalyzer test, showing a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

The pickup driver, identified as Joshua Kuhl, 35, of Carter Lake, was treated and released before being booked into Douglas County Corrections. He faces multiple charges, including motor vehicle homicide, two counts of DUI resulting in serious injury, and DUI (.15) with two prior convictions.

OPPD crews also responded to the scene after some power lines were disconnected, although it’s unclear if the power line problem was related to the crash.

This is an ongoing investigation.
