Pillen working for grassroots endorsement
Nebraska gubernatorial candidate Jim Pillen made campaign stops Monday at Beatrice, Nebraska City and Plattsmouth encouraging Republicans to get to know their candidates
NEBRASKA CITY – Republican governor candidate Jim Pillen held a meet and greet event at Nebraska City Monday saying he is working for the endorsement of Nebraska voters from all 93 counties.
Pillen described himself as a Christian, conservative Republican with a focus on kids, tax decreases, defense of agriculture and standing up for Nebraska values.

GOP challenger Charles Herbster has the endorsement of former President Donald Trump and recently spoke at a Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Fla.
Herbster is endorsed by former Nebraska treasurer Don Stenberg and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
Pillen said the endorsement of grassroots Nebraskans, and grassroots organizations like the Nebraska Farm Bureau, are most important.
Pillen: “We care about each other. We see the world the same. We work hard. We want to raise our children the way we see fit. We don’t want to have government invading our privacy and how we want to make decisions. Those are all the things that the people who are joining team Pillen believe in.”
He said he is working to earn the endorsement of the Nebraska people in the May primary.
Pillen: “Nebraskans care about what neighbors think. They care about what great people like Gov. Ricketts think. Gov. (Kay) Orr has endorsed us, coach (Tom) Osborne … so neighbors telling others makes a difference and key leaders in Nebraska, so we’re very blessed with where out campaign is at today.”
He said Nebraska will benefit from an attitude of Nebraskans together rather than individual population centers.
