K9 Mack Captures Theft Suspect
Police deploy K9 to search building that is under remodeling
NEBRASKA CITY – The Police K9 Mack assisted in the apprehension of a suspect after a vehicle was reported stolen in Nebraska City.
Sgt. Chris Richardson and Mack were dispatched Oct. 10 when a Nebraska City woman said her Chevrolet Cruze had been stolen from north 22nd Street.
The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a police bulletin notifying Nebraska City that they had ran the plates on the stolen car just before 1 a.m.
Police located the car at 219 N. Fifth St. in Nebraska City and five officers attempted to make contact with anyone inside a house there. Police reached the owner of the house on telephone and were told the house was under construction and no one is supposed to be staying there.
When the garage door was opened, Sgt. Richardson announced that the K9 Mack would be deployed. A male voice responded, but did not come out.
An arrest affidavit says Mack located Matthew Holmes, 46, who was taken into custody without incident.
The owner of the Chevrolet Cruze reported that her bank card had been used that night for three unauthorized transactions.
