Former Scotus state champ Vancura to lead Columbus High boys golf program

COLUMBUS, NE — Columbus High is promoting from within to fill its head boys golf coach position.
Athletic Director Tim Kwapnioski announced Monday that CHS hired Brady Vancura as the new boys golf coach. Vancura has coached basketball, baseball and golf since coming to Columbus High in 2017.
“We are excited to announce Brady Vancura as the head coach for the boys golf program. His experience as a collegiate player coupled with his teaching style make him a great fit for this role,” Kwapnioski said. “I look forward to working with him to expand the exceptional golf program at CHS for our student-athletes.”
Vancura takes over for longtime coach Rick Benson who passed away in May.
The new coach is no stranger to the links. Vancura golfed at Midland University and earned all-conference honors twice. He went to Scotus Central Catholic High School in Columbus and qualified for State all four years. He won the Class B championship in 2011.
Vancura started his teaching and coaching career with Beatrice Public Schools in 2015. He holds Masters degrees from Peru State and Chadron State.
