Nebraska City- A number of Nebraska City summer festivals and major events earned city commissioners' approval at Monday's meeting contingent upon future health directives.

Nebraska City Jaycees requested approval for the Independence Day celebration on Saturday July 4th.

Duane Koehlmoos from the Jaycees said that they would like to do the fireworks show with the understanding that the city may modify or even cancel the show.  They said that they want the best for the people’s health.

The City Council was also asked to approve the Apple Jack Car Show, September 20th, and the NCTC Farm to Fork dinner on August 23rd.

NCTC also proposes a downtown movie series each Saturday June 6th through July 26.

The United Methodist Church in Nebraska City is asking the city’s permission to use Nuckolls Square Park at noon on Sundays for a get together and a short message by Pastor Charles Kathurima.

The church withdrew its request at Monday’s meeting and agreed to monitor Gov. Rickets latest DHM regarding outdoor events.
