Charges Against Betts Could Carry Life Sentence
New charges allege seven counts of sexual assault

AUBURN- Brian Betts, 51,of Auburn appeared in Nemaha County Court Tuesday on charges of sexual assault of a child that carry a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Judge Curtis Maschman told Betts that a conviction of any of the seven sexual assault charges against him would carry a minimum of 20 years and could result in life in prison.
Betts is also charged with seven pornography charges that carry a minimum of three years to 50 years.
A preliminary hearing is set on Feb. 27.
Betts is scheduled for a bench trial on Feb. 24 on 15 counts of sexual assault of a child or exploitation of a child in child pornography.
