Snow Moves Into River Country
Snow arrives in Otoe County, Highway 2 accident reported
NEBRASKA CITY - While more than a foot a snow fell over some parts of Central and Northern Nebraska over the weekend, snow arrived for most of River Country just before dusk on Sunday.
Douglas and Palmyra Fire and Rescue were called out to an injury accident on Highway 2. Rescue crews were reporting slick conditions on the highway at 6:15 p.m.
Storms this weekend caused the Nebraska State Patrol to close a portion of Interstate 80 near North Platte at different times on Sunday because of crashes involving trucks and semi-trailers.
15 inches of snow fell near Ansley and 13 inches at Broken Bow.
Winter storm warnings were issued Sunday for 27 Nebraska counties. Heaviest snowfall Sunday night was north of Blair.
The Nebraska City airport reported snow at 5:30 p.m., just before a Highway 2 injury accident was reported near Palmyra.
Rainfall totals over the weekend include 1 inch at Palmyra, .6 of an inch at Nebraska City.
3.7 inches of rain was reported at Red Cloud, Neb.
