Nemaha County Clerk Oakley Resigns

AUBURN – Nemaha County commissioners accepted the resignation Tuesday of county clerk Joyce Oakley.
She and her husband, Steve, are relocating to the Omaha area.

Oakley said while the timing is a little ahead of schedule, she is looking forward to spending time with family and continuing her work in public service.
Oakley was appointed deputy county clerk in 1986 and was elected clerk in 2003. She is currently vice president of the state association and is serving her fifth term in Nemaha County.
She said she has enjoyed meeting new people and working with the public. The Nebraska Association of County Officials presented Oakley with its President’s Award in 2015.
Deputy Diane Johnson, who has been with the office for 16 years, was named interim clerk.
