Graham Hired As Attorney For State's Only City Commission

NEBRASKA CITY – Mayor Bryan Bequette administered the oath of office to new Nebraska City City Attorney Drew Graham at Monday’s meeting.

The Holdrege native is a 2012 law school graduate from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He worked six years in Grand Island for an asset recovery company. He last worked with an anti-human trafficking organization in Cambodia, where he spent 18 months.

Graham: “Decided that I really was interested in public service law and working for a government entity and the position came open here. I was really interested in the work and staying in Nebraska. All of our family is here so it just seemed like a really good opportunity.”

Graham replaces David Partsch, who took a judgeship with the county court.

In other business, Arlin Stutheit of the Nebraska City Airport Authority said the airport runway is scheduled for renovation.

He said a $500,000 project is planned to replace 22 concrete panels of the runway. The marks on the 25-year-old runway will be repainted.

Marty Stovall reported that the 11th Street bridge and Orchard Drive asphalt project is expected on Friday  Aug. 9.

The city commission agreed to pursue demolition of a house at 408 5th Terrace.
