AUBURN -  Mayor Chris Erickson continued Monday night to break tie votes for Auburn’s Core Area Projects identified by the Community Redevelopment Authority and Downtown Revitalization Committee.

The mayor joined council members Brian Lavigne, Nathan Seitz and Rick Janssen to advance resolutions that support a downtown mural and a master plan for downtown streetscaping.

He also broke a tie vote on June 9 to approve the Core Area project concepts. Monday's vote was for contracts with the CRA on specific projects.

Council members Shawn Clark, Tom Clark and Johnny Curtright voted against an agreement for a redevelopment contract with the CRA to use $38,000 for JEO to prepare a conceptual master plan and site plan for landscaping and streetscaping in the downtown district.

They also voted against an agreement with the CRA for a $42,000 project to paint a mural on a public-facing portion or exterior of a building to improve the aesthetic of the downtown area. The project includes surface preparation, painting, installation and equipment rental.
