Weather alert issued for River Country

 VALLEY -  The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa calling conditions favorable for weak funnel clouds and small hail.

The statement issued at 2:34 p.m. extends through 7 p.m.

The weather service says the weak funnel clouds are typically harmless, but touch down on rare occasions and can produce wind gusts over 50 mph. A few storms could also produce small hail.
