NEBRASKA CITY- The Otoe County Board approved a $10,000 keno grant to the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center at its meeting Tuesday.

A crew led by Butch Bouvier and Doug Freidli used logs from 200 dead trees left by flooding on the Missouri River bottoms to construct five buildings to replicate the first built by the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1804.

Freidli told commissioners the keno grant will be used to gather more logs from the cutting site, bring them up the bluff and erect a wall around the four edges of the fort with the cabins inside.

He is expecting the wall to be erected this spring.
