Flash freezing possible on roadways today
VALLEY - Most of River Country is included in a weather statement from the National Weather Service at Valley.
The statement says scattered snow may develop over eastern Nebraska and western Iowa this afternoon and persist into the early overnight hours.
Heavier snow flurries and 40 mph winds may result in sudden reductions in visibility.
While accumulations are expected to remain below an inch, roads could be slick for the evening commute.
Temperatures are expected to quickly fall below freezing later this evening, which could result in flash freezing of roadways that don’t see snow accumulations initially.
The statement area includes:
Knox, NE; Cedar, NE; Thurston, NE; Antelope, NE; Pierce, NE; Wayne, NE; Boone, NE; Madison, NE; Stanton, NE; Cuming, NE; Burt, NE; Platte, NE; Colfax, NE; Dodge, NE; Washington, NE; Butler, NE; Saunders, NE; Douglas, NE; Sarpy, NE; Seward, NE; Lancaster, NE; Cass, NE; Otoe, NE; Saline, NE; Jefferson, NE; Gage, NE; Johnson, NE; Nemaha, NE; Pawnee, NE; Richardson, NE
