AUBURN - The Four County Collaborative is hosting a free suicide prevention training on Saturday, May 18, at the ESU Conference Center in Auburn from 10 a.m. to noon.

Coordinator Laura Osborne said Armed Forces Day was chosen for the public event held in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

She said the program works to prevent suicide among the entire population but VA chaplains will focus on veteran suicide.

Osborne said the short training can make a difference for individuals in crisis.

Osborne: “Preventing suicide can be very daunting, however, QPR training provides participants with very basic things they can do to help someone considering suicide. We hope that many people will decide to spend a couple of hours with us on a Saturday morning in the interests of saving lives.”
