Marlene Bertha Royer, age 84 of Nebraska City passed away May 4, 2024 at Syracuse Area Health Hospital.  Marlene was born May 6, 1939 in Talmage, the daughter of Hans and Bertha (Sothmann) Kock.  She married Herman Royer June 10, 1957 in Talmage and worked at Arbor Bank for several years prior to her retirement.  Marlene was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and loved spending time with her family.  She was an avid Nebraska sports fan and rarely missed her great grandchildren’s sporting events.  Survivors include her son, Mike (Clara) Royer of Lincoln; grandchildren, Jeff Royer of Lincoln, Melissa (Marc) McMurray of Elkhorn and Matt (Angel) Grable of Omaha; great grandchildren, Michelle McMurray, Max McMurray and Vincent Grable; special friend, Robert Duran of Nebraska City; many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Cheryl; sister, Nelda Bischoff and son in law, Wayne Grable. 

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebraska City with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery near Talmage.

 

Visitations will be 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.

 

Memorials are suggested to the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Memorial Garden in Humboldt.
