Public reacting on social media to Falls City shooting deaths

Falls City police report a response to a shooting on Wednesday where two people died.

A Facebook post says officers responded at 11:06 a.m. and found a 23-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man dead at a residence.
The police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Public comments on the department’s social media page are not as sure.

Comments include complaints about the handling of domestic violence cases, enforcement of protection orders and government response to violence reports.

Public comments also referenced Teena Brandon, who was killed in 1993 after reaching out to authorities regarding violence.

So far in 2025, Richardson County courts have handled 48 protection order cases alleging domestic abuse. As protection orders may involve multiple alleged victims, the number of respondents is 11. Of those 11, three have been dismissed and two have motions to dismiss pending. The whereabouts of the respondent is unknown in one case.
There are 12 respondents to protection orders alleging harassment. Of the 12 cases, two are active.
There are two protection order cases alleging sexual assault. One case involves an arrest and the other was dismissed when the petitioner did not appear in court.
