Lourdes Central Catholic Notches Homecoming Win Over Freeman

NEBRASKA CITY, NE - The Lourdes Central Catholic Knights celebrated homecoming with a comeback win over the Falcons of Freeman on Friday, 54-40, as heard on Otoe County Country.
In the opening frame, Freeman jumped on top, 6-0, on a short touchdown run from Owen Buss. A couple of minutes later, the Knights answered back with a 36-yard TD run from Callen Schnitzer, and the hosts took the lead with a successful 2-point conversion, 8-6. Freeman's True Jurgens found the end zone with 1:43 to go in the first quarter to push Freeman ahead at the end of the stanza, 12-8.
The second quarter saw three more lead changes and five scores as Lourdes held a narrow 32-26 lead at the break. The six-point difference was all due to unsuccessful 2-point conversions from Freeman, as each team scored four touchdowns. Freeman was helped out by two lost fumbles by Callen Schnitzer.
The third quarter saw LCC extend its lead to 38-26 on a 63-yard TD run from Callen Schnitzer. Lourdes forced two turnovers & had a goal-line stand at the 1-yard line to keep the Falcons off the board in the frame.
Each team scored twice in the final quarter, as LCC held on to take it, 54-40.
Callen Schnitzer had 278 yards on 21 carries, as he piled up four scores for LCC, but he was 0/3 passing. Alec Schnitzer carried it 24 times and scored three times while racking up 163 yards on the ground.
Freeman saw True Jurgens & Owen Buss each run it into the end zone twice, while Easton Buss had a TD carry & a TD pass to Jackson Pella.
Lourdes Central Catholic is now 3-1 as they prepare for a road trip to Omaha Christian on Friday, while Freeman sits at 1-3 with a home game against Johnson County Central up next.
