Sheriff reports sharp rise in service calls

SIDNEY, IA - The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office released its year-end statistics after answering over 1,000 more calls than the prior  year.

Deputies made 342 arrests and wrote 458 citations in the course of over 3,000 traffic stops.

Calls for service rose from 9,437 in 2020 to 12,000 in 2023.

Those calls include 289 accidents and 530 criminal charges.

The number of arrests were up slightly over 2022.

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office received 12,003 calls for service in 2023, an increase of 1,193 calls from 2022.

Deputies made 342 arrests in 2023 resulting from 530 criminal charges.  Deputies wrote 458 citations and 766 written warnings during the course of 3,115 traffic stops.

The sheriff's office received reports of 289 motor vehicle accidents, resulting in deputies filing 145 accident reports.
