NEBRASKA CITY – Firefighters extinguished an active fire at a Nebraska City residence around 2:20 a.m. on Sunday.
Fire Chief Rob Schreiner said smoke from the fire awoke a resident, Shawn Rightsell, who was able to alert others.
Firefighters arrived to find a working fire in the 163-year-old house. Firefighters removed a wall to extinguish the fire. An electric outlet is blamed for starting the fire inside of the wall.
Two units and 14 firefighters responded.
Firefighters responded to 1701 Fifth Corso on Dec. 7 for smoke caused by moisture in an electrical outlet.
A call Wednesday afternoon to the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts was a false alarm.
