NEBRASKA CITY - Nebraska City firefighters were dispatched Sunday morning for a working fire near Third Corso and Fifth Street.

A fire department report says unattended smoking materials started the fire that burned debris near a house at 417 Third Corso.

County records say the house was purchased for $6,250 in 2021 by Bernice Bravo of Omaha.  City officials say Bravo has a building permit to remodel a house next door on South Fifth Street. There is no building permit for the Third Corso residence.

Three units and 30 firefighters responded.
