Late Free Throw Puts Peru State on Top in Tiger Tussle
CRETE, NE - The Peru State Men's Basketball Team beat the Doane Tigers in Crete, Nebraska, 68-67, in the last six seconds of the game. The Bobcats are now 2-0 on the season.
Christian Tidiane (Jr., Council Bluffs, IA) started the first half with a block which was followed by a made jump shot by David Wingett Jr. (Sr., Winnebago, NE). on the other end of the court. AJ Richard (Jr., Pearland, TX) led the team in the first half with 13 points and five rebounds Ajantae Hogan (Jr., Lincoln, NE) had eight points for the Bobcats, followed by David Wingett Jr., who had five points and four rebounds. The game was close ending the first half, tied at 32.
Sayvon Traylor (Sr., Atlanta, GA) came out hot in the second half, making a jump shot in the first ten seconds of the half. David Wingett Jr. couldn't be stopped by the Tigers, getting 15 points and five rebounds during the second half. Sayvon Traylor and Ajantae Hogan both left the half with six points and Hogan having three rebounds. The Bobcats couldn't be stopped by the Tigers as they fought all the way to the end of the game. The Bobcats came out on top with a free throw by David Wingett Jr., sealing the deal for a 68-67 victory.
David Wingett Jr. led the team with 20 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in the win over the Tigers. AJ Richard added 18 points and six rebounds for the Bobcats and Ajantae Hogan had 14 points and four rebounds. Sayvon Traylor had eight points with three rebounds and two steals in their win.
