Fire alarm at Nebraska City residence as heat index builds
115 north of Omaha, 120 degree index at Topeka
NEBRASKA CITY – News of a false alarm was welcomed Monday afternoon when Nebraska City Fire and Rescue was dispatched for a possible house fire at 811 Fourth Corso.
Second Assistant Chief Chris Griepenstroh said a fire alarm sounded in the residence, but no fire was found.
Fire and Rescue responded when the Nebraska City Airport was reporting 92 degrees and 73 percent humidity. A heat index of 114 is reported at Lincoln and 115 north of Omaha. A heat index of 120 is reported at Topeka, Kan.
