FREMONT, Neb. -- A crash involving a state trooper near Fremont resulted in two people going to the hospital.

The Nebraska State Patrol said a trooper was heading to a call for assistance at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officials said the trooper was going east on Highway 275 and a GMC Safari van entered the intersection after going north on N Luther Road. They reportedly collided with one another at this point.

According to authorities, both of the drivers were injured in the collision and the trooper called for help. Witnesses were reportedly able to help both of the drivers.

NSP said the driver of the van was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was flown to a hospital in Omaha with reportedly non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said the trooper was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries. 

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was requested by NSP to investigate the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
