NEBRASKA CITY - The Omaha and Kansas City districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a scoping meeting regarding the ongoing Lower Missouri River Basin Flood Risk and Resiliency Study.

One of four scoping meetings is scheduled at the Morton-James Public Library in Nebraska City from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Spin-off studies are planned for Holt County, Brunswick and Jefferson City in Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host a  meeting at Jefferson City on July 19.

The System Plan Study considers three devastating floods within 30 years, 1993, 2011 and 2019. Repair costs to the levee infrastructure in the lower river was about $1.2 billion in 2019, prompting Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa to form a four-state coalition.
