OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team got one step closer to restocking its backcourt.

Former Utah State guard Steven Ashworth announced on social media Monday that he is transferring to Creighton, joining a Bluejays squad that reached the Elite 8 last month.

Ashworth averaged 10.6 points and 3.6 assists per game in three seasons with the Aggies. He tallied 16.2 points and 4.5 assists per contest this past season.

He was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference performer as a junior. Due to the COVID-19 year of 2020-21, he will have two years of eligibility remaining.

"We are excited to add Steven, and his wife Peyton, to the Bluejay family," said Creighton head coach Greg McDermott. "His ability to stretch the floor with the three-point shot and make great decisions with the pass is exactly what we were looking in the point guard position. In addition, he possesses the necessary leadership skills that fit perfectly with our returning players. We can't wait to get him on campus and in Bluejay uniform."

The addition of Ashworth comes just days after last year's starting point guard, Ryan Nembhard, announced that he was transferring out of the Creighton program.

Nembhard has not yet announced his new landing spot.
