NEBRASKA CITY -  A man who is moving to withdraw pleas to methamphetamine and theft in Otoe County District Court, has been charged with new meth and burglary allegations.

Police were dispatched Feb. 20 on the report of the sound of breaking glass at a Fifth Corso residence.

An arrest affidavit says 39-year-old Nicholas Reed of Nebraska City ran into the backyard of residences when police arrived. An officer says he saw Reed throw something over a fence, which police later identified as meth and a pipe.

A Fifth Corso resident suspects damage to a house, but Reed is not charged on those allegations.

Reed earlier entered pleas in district court to possession and theft, but motioned to withdraw those pleas. He is scheduled for a hearing on Feb. 27.

Reed is also charged in Nemaha County on five counts of burglary on Jan. 5.

An affidavit says Reed is suspected of cutting locks on six storage units on Sixth Street in Auburn and taking a Milwaukee drill from Orscheln in Auburn. Sheriff’s deputies searched an Auburn apartment on Jan. 9 and say a woman there told them tools can be traded for methamphetamine.
