LINCOLN -  Pre-trial release has been revoked for a licensed stripper who is contesting a traffic stop that linked her to 10 pounds of methamphetamine in Otoe County.

An Otoe County sheriff’s deputy arrested 21-year-old Daisy Flores and her 45-year-old mother Teresa Martinez after crossing the Missouri River bridge into Iowa. While the court sorts out issues of jurisdiction and authority to search, Flores was allowed release to return to California.

A federal judge earlier told Flores she would be allowed to return to work as a licensed stripper, if she stays in California and does not use alcohol or illegal drugs.

Prosecutors say Flores tested positive for cocaine in April and November.

Prosecution: "The government is seeking detention under flight and danger and I can make some remarks now if the court would like. (You may) Your honor this case involves conspiracy with a substantial amount of methamphetamine. There is also marijuana.

"Your honor heard quite a bit of argument about this matter, detention, almost a year ago now time wise. After numerous hearings it was finally decided Ms. Flores would be released to California. Obviously that didn’t work out. She tested positive multiple times and it looks like even failed to report once.”

The defense said Flores intends to seek an evaluation to address some of the issues that brings her back before the court.”

Judge: “I do find today that there is no condition or combination of conditions of release that would assure the defendant would not pose a danger  and that the defendant, at this time, is unlikely to abide by any conditions or combination of conditions of release.”

Flores has denied knowledge of illegal drugs in the vehicle driven by her mother. Martinez has also entered a not guilty plea.

A conviction would carry a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.
