WEEPING WATER, Neb. -- An ammunition charge lands a Weeping Water man in prison for over three years.

U.S. Attorney Steven Russell said 36-year-old Matthew W. Miller, of Weeping Water, was sentenced in federal court in Omaha on Monday. He was charged for being a felon in possession of ammunition and will serve 37 months in prison with a three-year term of supervised release after. There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court documents, Miller pawned Winchester .357 ammunition at Sol’s Pawn Shop in Omaha on Aug. 10, 2021. His information was kept on record for the sale and the pawn ticket was submitted for fingerprint analysis, showing that Miller’s fingerprints were on the ticket. He was also photographed pawning the ammunition. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms confirmed that all the ammunition Miller pawned was made outside of Nebraska.

Officials said Miller has been previously convicted of several felony offenses in different Nebraska counties. His felonies include felony theft offenses in Douglas and Washington counties, and burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person in Douglas County.

This case was investigated by the Omaha Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
