Police report deer crashes over Thanksgiving weekend

NEBRASKA CITY – Police report two vehicle and deer accidents over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
A pickup driven by Reid Behrens of Lincoln hit a deer crossing Fourth Corso near I Road at 4:43 a.m. on Nov. 26.
A Lexus driven by TJ Merrill Newman of Stella hit a deer on Sylvan Road at midnight on Nov. 28. The Lexus sustained minor damage to the grill and windshield.
Police also report a driving under the influence arrest Nov. 22 after a Chrysler Town and Country van left north Sixth Street near Eighth Avenue and struck a retaining wall. There were no occupants in the vehicle when police arrived. The driver was arrested.
The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reports arrests of a 20-year-old Nebraska City man for criminal mischief, another 20-year-old Nebraska City man for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and a 35-year-old Syracuse man for violation of a protection order.
