FALLS CITY – Neon lights, Miata Club, farm equipment and demolition derby contestants highlighted the Cobblestone Festival parade on Saturday.

Megan Bulgrin, a 34-year-old waitress who was cheerleader for her husband Coulton in demolition derbies last year, had her sights set on the finals.

Bulgrin: “Goal is to come out further ahead than him.”

She graced the arena in her ’92 Grand Prix.

Bulgrin: “It’s not chincy like the newer cars. It got a little harder body to it.”

Whatever happens in the derby, Megan already exceeded the expectations of some by making it to the end of the parade route.

Bulgrin: “The beginning of the parade route started out kind of rough and my car kept dying for the first block, we got it going.”

She said it was sign that she’ll be a strong finisher.

The neon orange Tanner Shelby Merz Foundation bus also made it through the parade route.

The foundation raised over $10,000 this year for a new wrestling mat at Falls City High School and next looking to raise $4,000 for misting fans for the two football teams.

In its nine years, the foundation has raised nearly $90,000 for youth programs.

Julie Phroper and Ardis Ramsey of the Humane Society of Richardson County, were grand marshals. They are dedicated volunteers at the Sam and Lela Schuler Memorial Shelter.
