PLATTSMOUTH -  A 65-year-old Sunday School teacher from Plattsmouth is charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child.

An alleged victim told a Cass County Sheriff’s Office investigator they he met William Marks Sr. through the church, where Marks led a Sunday School class.

Charges filed in Cass County allege two counts of first degree and one charge of third degree sexual assault.

The sheriff’s office investigator told the court that she interviewed the alleged victim, as well as the pastor at First Baptist Church and others who had attended Marks’ Sunday School class.

The church informed the investigator they had received a complaint against Marks in 2018, but when church officials reached out to the alleged victim they did not receive a response.

The 2022 investigation indicates allegations against Marks that include incidences of touching and back massages. An alleged victim says the touching led to hands below the waistline.

An arrest affidavit says an alleged victim said Marks would ask graphic sexual questions about physiological responses in males.

Marks had his attorney present while interviewed by the sheriff's office investigator and a Plattsmouth police officer. He denied allegations.

The most severe allegations are not linked to the Sunday School class and no allegations of first degree sexual assault are alleged to have occurred on church property.
