NORFOLK, Neb. -- The Norfolk Arts Center held its biggest fundraising event of the year, putting on its first annual "Artisans Along the Avenue" over the weekend.

The event included tasting of soups from local restaurants, artist booths across the city, and a silent auction to raise funds.

At several local restaurants, specialty soups were served in house. The restaurants shared the space with local artisans displaying their craft.

"We had an amazing event and beautiful weather," said Norfolk Arts Center Marketing and Membership Coordinator Dustin Southworth.

Participating restaurants included Black Cow Fat Pig, The Pier, The 411, TaylorMade Catering at District Event Center, White Mulberry Bakery and District Table & Tap.

Participating artists included Roger Nadrchal, Mike Fluent Josephine Ramirez, Denise Dendinger, Abbey Coffin and Wayne State College Art Club.

Participants voted on their favorite soup, atmosphere and artist. Black Cow Fat Pig won top soup honors, while favorite atmosphere went to The 411, and Denise Dendinger won favorite artist.

If participants visited all six stops, they were entered into a raffle to win a gift basket. Heidi Hollmann won the grand prize.
