Bryce William Buza died at the age of 28 years old due to complications from surgery on January 14, 2022, after a very courageous fight against cancer.
He was born on April 29, 1993 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to Autumn (Murphy) and Brian Buza. He was raised in Ottumwa, Iowa and graduated from Albia High School in May 2011. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and attended basic training at the Lockland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Bryce was then stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. He served from May 2011-September 2014 as an Aerospace Propulsion Journeyman (jet engine mechanic). When he lived in Bellevue, he met his future wife, Kristen. They got married on March 5, 2016 and were very happily married for nearly 6 years. Together they had a daughter, Charlotte, in April 2019. Bryce was an incredible son, husband, and father to his daughter.
Bryce is survived by his wife, Kristen and daughter, Charlotte Buza of Nebraska City. His mom Autumn Murphy, dad Brian Buza, step-dad Tony Denato, brother Jordan Buza, and sister Bailee Batterson. Along with many cousins, uncles, aunts, and grandparents. He is proceeded in death by his uncle Brian (Reck), grandma Jan (Denato), and grandparents Elizabeth and Zoltan (Buza).
Besides camping, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding, Bryce enjoyed playing video games and board games, as well as watching Blackhawks hockey, going golfing, and spending time with his loved ones. Bryce worked at the United States Post Office in Nebraska City as a mail carrier and enjoyed visiting with all the customers he delivered mail to. He had a great sense of humor and was very goofy, always trying to make people laugh. The only things in life he cared about was his family and his faith in Christ. Bryce was a fighter throughout his cancer diagnosis and an incredibly strong human being whose life was cut way too short. Bryce will be missed dearly by everyone that knew him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at Calvary Community Church in Nebraska City on Friday, January 21st at 11am. Calvary Community Church is located at 273 S 63rd Rd in Nebraska City. A military honor service will be performed as well. The family is requesting that donations in his honor be made to either the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation http://www.testicularcancerawarenessfoundation.org/donate or a memorial fund for his daughter’s future education.
