Joyce A. Oelke, age 79 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Sunday; January 2, 2022 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City.

She was born on September 19, 1942 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Richard and Berneice (Bray) Boom. Joyce was later adopted by Charles and Emma (Meyers) Dungan.
She attended school in Nebraska City and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1960.

She was united in marriage to Richard H. Oelke on April 23, 1966 in Nebr. City NE and to this union four children were born:  Shawna, Shelly, Melisa and Richard, Jr.

Joyce worked for the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office for many years in various capacities including secretary, jailer and dispatcher to name a few.  She served under Sheriff Russ Seals and Sheriff Harris Esler during her working years.

She is survived by her children:  Shawna Larson (Doug) of Percival, IA, Shelly Carlson (Carey) of Omaha, NE, Melisa Arnold of Nebr. City and Richard Oelke, Jr. of Nebr. City; five grandchildren:  Cody Arnold, Brandon Carlson, Andrea Halder (Brian), Nicolas Oelke and Alexandrea Oelke; three great-grandchildren:  Connor Engel, Leon Halder and Aiden Carlson; a sister Nancy Berry; other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard on May 3, 2017, and sister Maxine (Dobrusky) VanderDium

Services will be held at a later date at Camp Creek Cemetery southeast of Nebraska City.
