Glen F. Schweppe, 89 of Syracuse
Glen F. Schweppe, 89 of Syracuse

Glen F. Schweppe, age 89, of Syracuse, passed away on February 5, 2026, at his home, as was his wish. He was born on September 2, 1936, at his parents’ home south of Syracuse, a place he cherished deeply and where he spent his entire life caring for the land and his family. Glen was the son of Henry W. Schweppe and Rosetta “Rosie” T. (Damme) Schweppe.
Glen left school after his eighth-grade graduation to help on the family farm when his father’s health began to fail. During this time, he became especially close to his mother as they worked side by side caring for the farm together. This decision reflected his lifelong sense of responsibility and devotion to family. He was confirmed at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ (Osage) and used John 3:16 as his confirmation verse, words he held close to his heart throughout his life.
He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserves. On April 22, 1959, Glen was united in marriage to Eunice F. Seelhoff at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse. Together they were blessed with three children: Daniel, Kay, and Jane.
Throughout his life, Glen worked many jobs, including Stubbendick Implement, Paul Phillippe Masonry, the local bowling alley in Syracuse, and painting under the name “Sloppin’ Schweppes.” He also learned the art of crocheting from his mother, a skill that reflected his patience and creativity, and was known by many for decorating cakes for special occasions over the years. His true life’s work, however, was as a dairy farmer and caretaker of the land. What began as a small dairy operation grew into a Grade A dairy, which Glen and Eunice operated with their son Dan until their retirement in 2011. Always inventive, Glen was known for coming up with new ideas and practical solutions to make farming easier and more efficient.
He was active in the Syracuse community, serving on the Country School Board and local Church Council. In 1991, Glen and Eunice were crowned King and Queen of Germanfest. Glen also helped design the original Hans character that became a recognizable symbol of Germanfest.
He is survived by his children: Daniel Schweppe, Kay (Leonard) Busekist, Jane (Jim) Skrobo; Grandsons: Chase (Julie) Busekist, Cody Busekist; Great Grandsons: Gavin & Owen Busekist also many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, wife Eunice, Son-in-law: Dale Rotschafer, Sister: Elizabeth Henke.
Private family services and burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15th from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. with family greeting friends from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
