Walk in the park hazardous for Plattsmouth woman
Woman says troubles began when she got out to walk her dog
GLENWOOD - The Mills County Sheriffs’ Office reports peculiar circumstances in a run-away vehicle accident at West Oak Park near Pacific Junction on Monday.
A sheriff’s office press release says 73-year-old Dianne Stewart of Plattsmouth had parked a Subaru and got out to walk her dog. She told investigators she leaned back in to retrieve her cell phone and suspects she may have knocked the transmission into neutral.
Investigators say the woman was hit by the car door as the car rolled down a slope.
The car got stuck on the driveway embankment and Stewart told investigators she got back in to try and get it free.
Deputies say the car was balancing on the embankment with only three wheels touching the ground and it appeared that the vehicle may roll over.
Silver City Rescue took Stewart to the hospital with a possible break of her left arm and a bruise on her face.
