LINCOLN – Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson has joined a coalition of 52 attorney generals in support of a U.S. Senate committee addressing protection and safety of kids and teens using social media.
A press release from the attorney general’s office, says the Senate hearings will uncover critical information about the use of algorithms to psychologically manipulate young users to addict them to their cell phone screens for the sake of maximizing profits.
In May, attorney generals wrote a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg urging the company to abandon plans for a version of Instagram for children under age 13.
