LINCOLN - A man accused of the murder of a former Nebraska City resident is asking the court to pay for an expert witness in his defense.

Roy Wyrick, 27, is charged in the second degree murder of Jeremy Lane. Prosecutors say Lane was stabbed during a fight with Wyrick near Goodhue and D streets on July 13, 2020.

Wyrick’s attorney is asking for an expert witness to review digital evidence and attempt to enhance images to aid the jury. The expert fee is proposed at $100 an hour.

Wyrick also seeks the help of a forensic pathologist at $450 an hour.

The case is set for a September jury trial.
