Syracuse council agenda includes land purchase for fire department

SYRACUSE – Growth in scope and capabilities of the Syracuse Fire Department is leading to discussions of a potential land purchase.

Equipment has increased in size over the past 40 years and the current fire station hosts both fire and rescue departments.

The Syracuse fire department is asking for approval  from city council to look into a potential land purchase. The fire department is also seeking approval of the new elected fire department officers.

The council is being asked for direction at its meeting Wednesday regarding property within the city limits.

Other discussions up for consideration is a potential lift station by 17th Street and a dry retention dam,  upstream of 1st Street and Willow Street.
