Appointment to city council, police chief on Falls City City Council agenda

Fundraiser proposed for rescue squad service

The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 19.

The agenda includes the appointment of Joe Buckminster as the Ward 2 councilman  and Jamison Baker as chief of police.

Leah Meyer will discuss the Nebraska Recycling Council and Daniel Farley will discuss zoning at 1300 Harlan St.

Chip Ebel proposes a program to paint house numbers on the curb as a fundraiser for the Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad.

Dispatching services and nuisance abatement at 807 E. 12th St. will also be discussed.

At its April 5 meeting, the city council agreed to pay a $1.4 million bill from the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska from the city’s cash reserves.

The city approved blocking off a block of Barada Street near 17th Street from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 16 to 18 for training with the ladder truck.

Buckminster, a life-long Falls City resident, is a technology specialist at Community Medical Center and a technology consultant for small business.

Leah Meyer of the Nebraska Recycling Council and RJ Hamilton will update the council on the re-opening of the recycling center and ask the city council for recycling services as the library, aquatic center and city offices.

The first quarter report from Falls City EDGE is on the agenda. Work continues on the North Commercial Corridor and paving is underway at Abbott Street at Champions Crossing.
